Inflation rate in Sudan drops further for September

The inflation rate in Sudan for the food and beverage group decreased to 226.93% for the month of September, continuing its decrease that first started last month.

The inflation rate for September witnessed a huge decrease compared to 387.56% for the month of August, signaling a decrease of 21.74 points.

In September, the growing inflation rate in Sudan dropped for the first time in months.

According to a bulletin issued by the Central Bureau of Statistics, Thursday, the annual inflation rate for the food and beverage group decreased to 226.93% for the month of September, compared to a 260.76% average for the month of August.

The annual core inflation rate – minus the food and beverage group – also decreased, recording 515.46% for the month of September 2021, compared to 541.06% for August.

The inflation rate of imported goods in the consumer basket also decreased and reached 203.44% for the month of September, compared to a rate of 22.22%, while inflation for urban areas recorded 347.40% for the month of September 2021, compared to an average of 325.27% for the month of August 2021.

The rate for rural areas also decreased, recording 378.86% for the month of September 2021, compared to 436.61% for the month of August 2021.

The report indicated an increase in the inflation rate of consumer and service goods prices for the month of September 2021 in 8 states, with the highest rise was in Central Darfur, reaching 237.94%
