Putschist sovereignty council in Sudan announces taskforce for tribal clashes

The putschist Sovereignty Council in Sudan announced the formation of a taskforce to help resolve security breaches and tribal clashes in a number of states.

The meeting of the Joint Supreme Council for Security Arrangements, headed by the head of the putschist Sovereignty Council Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, discussed the developments of the security situation in Darfur and the recent unfortunate events.

The meeting, which was held at the Republican Palace, stressed the need for the security services to play their role in maintaining security, protecting citizens and their property, and working to address the recurring situations and events.

Joint Strength

The Council decided on forming a joint deterrent special tasks force, comprising of the armed forces, RSF, armed rebel forces, security, general intelligence, and the police, provided that it would have an advanced joint command based in el-Fasher.

The joint force would have power to control, contain, and resolve all security breaches, collect weapons, and bring all offenders and accused to court.

The force’s establishment will assist in imposing the sovereignty and rule of law, and will contribute seriously and effectively to the protection of civilians and the implementation of the Juba Agreement for the Peace of Sudan

The meeting agreed that all parties forming this force would strictly abide by their commitments.

Krink Events

Renewed bloody civil clashes in the Krink locality in West Darfur have led to the killing of 45 people and wounding of 46, in addition to burning many houses.

Krink lies 70 km east of El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.
