Ministry of Justice: “Following human rights violations reports”

The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice explained that a series of meetings took place within the framework of the mechanism’s tireless pursuit to protect and promote human rights.

The National Human Rights Mechanism of the coup authority in Sudan announced the formation of a committee to follow up on the results of investigations into human rights violations, collect information, and control statistics with the competent authorities.

It also confirmed its follow-up to the protests that the resistance committees called for in the capital, Khartoum, and the states recently.

The Head of the Mechanism, the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Ghanem al-Tayeb, said that the Mechanism held several meetings to follow up on the events and demonstrations that were organized in the capital and many cities.

He explained to Sudan News Agency, on Monday, that a series of meetings took place within the framework of the mechanism’s tireless pursuit to protect and promote human rights.

Al-Tayeb added that another committee for coordination and follow-up to was tasked with visiting the expert on human rights in Sudan with the goal of reporting on it to the Human Rights Council at the 50th session scheduled for June 2022.

Since the coup d’état the army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan waged against the civilian authority on October 25th, about 17 mass demonstrations have taken place in the capital, Khartoum, and other cities in Sudan, calling restoration of the civilian authority.

Last Thursday, processions went out in the capital and other cities under the name of “the January 13th millions”, which the coup regime’s authorities met with severe repression and violence.
