A group of federal parties that participated in the regime of ousted Omar al-Bashir signed a unity pact in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Thursday.

The federal parties and factions signed the Federal Unity Charter at the Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo, in the presence of representatives from the various parties.

After the signing, the attendees reviewed Al-Mirghani’s initiative for national reconciliation, which he had put forward in mid-March.

The leader of the military coup in Sudan, Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, visited the leader of the Khatmiyya sect in the country, Muhammad Othman Al-Mirghani, at his residence in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Wednesday.

Press sources said this week that “Al-Mirghani” intends to finally return to the country, early next April, after an absence of more than 10 years.
