According to the mother of detainee Mohamed Adam (also known as Tupac), her son has been suffering from a swelling in the face and limbs as a result of “poisoning” sustained inside Kober Prison.
The family of the detainee revealed that their son had been subjected to grave violations inside his detention cell in Kober Prison, north of the capital, Khartoum.
The coup authorities arrested Mohamed Adam, known as Tupac, on January 13, in connection with the yet-to-be-proved killing of a high-ranking police officer during protests in the country.
Tupac’s family expressed fears of losing their son if proper medical care is not provided to him inside holding.
Nidal Yaqoub, his mother, told Al-Jarida newspaper on Thursday, that her son suffers from swelling on his face and limbs as a result of “poisoning” sustained by his body.
In addition, Yaqoub said her son had also suffered from hot urine as a result of high temperatures inside the cell which he has staying for about two months.
She pointed out that the cell itself was very narrow, the size of a toilet, surrounded by human waste and pungent odors from all sides, in addition to being filled with insects.
Tupac’s mother said that the prison authorities prevented her from visiting her son despite her begging and waiting with his younger siblings from eight in the morning until three in the afternoon on the eve of “Eid al-Fitr”, and did not allow her visitation until last Sunday.
It also denounced the prison administration’s not giving them all 45 minutes for visitation given to them by the prosecution.
“I was given only 10 minutes, during which I could not talk to him well, as if they [the police] were afraid of what was happening to him being revealed to the Sudanese people.”
