Bashir takes responsibility for 89 coup

Omar al-Bashir, former Sudanese president who was deposed in 2019 after popular uprisings, admitted to full responsibility during the 1989 coup plotters trial.

Al-Bashir described himself as the “leader of the 1989 revolution” during his address to the court judge.

Al-Bashir had ovethrown then-Prime Minister and recently deceased al-Sadiq al-Mahdi.

The former president failed to identify or name any of his accomplices during the hearing session.

He denied any civilians in the government or any other military elements veing involved in the coup d’etat.

The former Sudanese president also boasted about the National Salvation regime’s accomplishments during his time.
