By Kamal krory

Sudan’s newly appointed foreign minister Ali Yousef statements to “Al-Jazeera Channel”, fueled large criticism, some described them as “disastrous” and “grave diplomatic errors”.

The Minister assured “Al-Jazeera” on Saturday, that no objection to giving the US, Russia, China and France military bases on our long Red Sea coast. He added “we can give all of them bases and let them do their work against each other”.

Many Sudanese expressed their disappointment, and accused the minister of what they say “He auctions off Sudan’s lands live on air and to make it a global conflict space…”

According to diplomats, the biggest gaffe he made was the unsubstantiated accusation that the Biden Administration was plotting against the Sudanese Armed Forces.

The minister’s statements have sparked significant controversy and added to the shocks experienced by the Sudanese people.

“He gave rambling and unsatisfactory answers to many questions”, a Senior diplomat told “Altgeer”.

He clarified: “based on the disastrous answers the minister gave, I can confidently say that the guy is not equipped at all to answer tough questions”.

Eventually, the minister should demonstrate more tact and restraint when reaching out to the media during these turbulent times, the diplomat added.

For the political analyst Mohamed Elmokhtar, the Minister’s statements reveal a lack of responsibility, vision, and strategy.

Elmokhtar, described the minister’s views on sensitive regional and international issues as a case that reflects the current period that Sudan is witnessing.

He expected serious implications that could araise as a result of the Foreign Minister’s statements. He further clarified “these statements will have both internal and external repercussions, in addition to exposing the mindset of the Islamic regime”.

In the case of the Red Sea bases, Elmokhtar, viewed the minister statement as an extension of old intentions when the ousted President General Omar al-Bashir offered this matter to Russia in return for protection from America.

He pointed out that the issue of military bases on the Red Sea is considered a sensitive matter and raises concerns among regional and international partie.
