The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Wednesday made significant progress in three axes encircling Madani, capital of al-Gezira State, in a bid to regain control over the centeral Sudan state from its foe, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

SAF’s troops  advanced toward Medani from the south (Sinnar State) reaching a village 20 kms from Madani, and from the west (al-Managil city) reaching an area 13 kms from Madani.

On the east axis (al-Fao region), the troops engaged in fighting with the RSF’s advance defences. At the same time Sudan Shield troops, led by Abu Aagla Kaikl who split from the RSF and joined SAF last October, reached Omalgora area in al-Gezira State and engaged in bitter fighting with the RSF.

Leader of the Special Operations Forces in Sinnar State, Fatah al-Aleem al-Shobli, said they have destroyed 7 combat vehicles, a C8 vehicle, a launcher, siezed light weapons and killed tens of the RSF fighters.

SAF has meanwhile  launched airstrikes to cut off supply routes from the RSF in Omalgora area as the battle is fought in an open area, Sudan Shield said.

Wednesday offensive has been carried out after a visit by the SAF Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Shams Eddin al-Kabashi, to Sinnar and al-Gezira on Tuesday where he received a briefing on military operations and gave the green light for the offense against RSF in Madani.
