One of the drones has caused partial damage to the electricity converter station in Merowe leading to a power outage in the whole city.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched drone attacks on the Sudanese Armed Forces’ (SAF) 19th Infantry Division in Merowe, 350 km north of Khartoum, early morning Thursday resulting in power outage in the whole city.

“The enemy has targeted the headquarters of the 19th Infantry Division in Merowe, the Northern State, with a group of suicidal drones, one of which landed near the headquarters causing partial damage to the electricity converter station”, the 19th Infantry Division said.

The SAF anti-aircraft systems successfully shot down all of the drones without causing any loss of life or property damage, the Division said in a statement.

Last November, the RSF launched drone attacks on this infantry division and Merowe airport but the SAF anti-aircraft defence systems spoiled the attack.

Drone use is currently in the increase as war nears its second year, particularly by the RSF promoting the SAF to strengthen its air defense systems.
