Khartoum: Altaghyeer

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) anti-aircraft missiles succeeded in aborting drone attacks on Omdabakir thermal power station in Rabak city, al-Neel al-Abiad (the White Nile) State.

The attacks were carried out by ten drones from mid night up to early hours of Wednesday, local resources said.

Omdabakir thermal power station is a major electrical power facility in the region, supplying the White Nile and Sinnar States addition to Kordofan’s three states with electricity.

The attacks on Omdabakir coincided with three other attacks on electrical power facilities in Merowe Dam, Dongola (both in north Sudan) and al-Shwak in Gadarif State, east Sudan.

Since June 2023, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has been using drone attacks in its war with the SAF, now lasting for nearly two years.

Several of RSF drone attacks, that targeted military bases and vital infrastructures, have been intercepted by the SAF.
